I am late to the game on this one, but Third Base is my first read of sports romance and thanks to Heidi it will not be my last. It was the perfect pick-me-upper coming out of a book that left my heart heavy. Third Base was a fast-paced, one-sitting book (if I didn’t have a job and kids to feed), quick-to-love-read that keeps a smile on your face with the exceptions of a few curve balls thrown your way, which kept it interesting for sure.
My husband is a HUGE baseball fan and I could care less for it, but this book may have put me into the “hot corner,” for the love of America’s favorite pasttime or at least for the players anyway – HA! There definitely were a lot of baseball dialogue but believe me it did not take away from the book at all. If anything, it made me want to understand it more (bet the hubbs loves that) eeek!
I really like the way it was written of how deep Ethan’s feelings were for Daisy and not feel like it was rushed into it through the transition of how well aware they were of each other before they even officially met. There were definitely some moments when I thought to myself: Don’t be a selfish d*ck, Ethan! Speak up, Daisy! Then it hits me that these characters came from very different backgrounds and were in their early 20’s, which makes perfect sense of how or why they react to certain issues the way they did.
I say… grab some peanuts and cracker jacks and let’s root, root, root for THIRD BASE!
